I'm making progress with my pottery pendant commission. The setting is finished apart from the bail, and I'm now buffing it with progressively finer wet and dry papers.
i had a bit of a dilemma over whether or not to pierce out the back of the setting. I like do this if the pottery is patterned on both sides, but this piece is plain, and quite badly crazed. It does, however, have quite a deep groove across one corner - I think it must have come from a saucer or something similar. I wanted to honour the fragment's origins, so I decided to pierce out a small section to show the groove.

The customer I'm making it for just told me to do what I thought best, so I hope she's happy with my decision.
Once I've finished smoothing, I'll solder on the bail and turn over the edges of the bezel setting to hold the pottery in place. A final polish, and it'll be all done.
